Cold Water for a Great Cause: Puretap at the 2025 Sporting Life 10K
Every May, tens of thousands of runners pour down Yonge Street from north Toronto to the lakeshore for the Sporting Life 10K — one of Canada’s biggest 10K races, and one of the most generous, too. The race exists to fundraise for Camp Oochigeas, a privately funded camp that gives kids living with cancer a place to just be kids. Puretap was proud to be part of the 2025 edition, helping keep things flowing at the post-race party.

A race that’s really about kids
Camp Ooch — short for Camp Oochigeas — is the heart of the Sporting Life 10K. Since the very first run, the race has poured its proceeds back into a camp where children affected by childhood cancer can experience the magic of summer camp at no cost to their families. Swimming, canoeing, campfires, friendships, the whole works. The kind of week that sticks with a kid for the rest of their life. Every dollar raised on race day buys more of that magic for more families.
That mission is why a lot of GTA businesses show up year after year, and why we’re glad to be one of them. Puretap has spent more than 40 years delivering spring-distilled water to homes, offices, and community events across Toronto and the GTA. When you’ve been part of a city for that long, you start to recognize the events that make the place better. The Sporting Life 10K is one of them.

After 10K, you really do need a glass of water
The Sporting Life 10K is a fast course — a long, mostly downhill 10 kilometres that draws elite runners and first-time race-day participants in roughly equal numbers. By the time the field hits the finish line at Fort York, the after-party is already in full swing: music, food trucks, brand activations, and a whole lot of thirsty humans. Hydration matters more than the medal. Cold spring water is what people actually want.
Being part of that moment — handing a bottle of cold Puretap water to a runner who just ran their personal best, to a parent pushing a stroller through the festival, to a Camp Ooch alum back to support the camp that supported them — is the whole point of community sponsorship. It’s small in the grand scheme. It matters in the moment.
Why we keep showing up
We don’t sponsor races to put our logo on a banner. We do it because the Greater Toronto Area is home, and because the families running for Camp Ooch — and the kids that Camp Ooch supports — are part of the same community we deliver water to every single day. If a five-gallon jug of spring-distilled water is what we can offer, that’s what we’ll bring. Every time.
To everyone who ran the 2025 Sporting Life 10K — runners, volunteers, organizers, and the Camp Ooch family — thank you for letting us be a small part of a big day. We’ll see you at the start line again next year.
